Social media comment sections infuriate me. Whenever I frequent Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, despite knowing better, I will often check the comments of posts, regardless of the content. In some cases it serves as a humorous blood sport, usually on political posts, in which opposing political couch commentators spout low blow insults at each other. However the majority of the time it often presents nonsensical opinions, and faceless abuse. Whilst I realise I should probably spend my downtime more effectively, it has an addictive quality, as the hunt for stupidity and idiocy in the comments can be an insightful practice in understanding the perception that individuals hold on certain topics.
