London's restaurant scene welcomed a charming new addition with the opening of Marceline on Monday, 5th August. Marceline aims to be a warm and hospitable restaurant that captures the essence of a classic brasserie while infusing modern touches. Open from morning until late, Marceline will be the perfect destination for a relaxing breakfast, a long lunch, a business dinner, or a late-night aperitif.

At the helm of Marceline's kitchen is the esteemed chef Robert Aikens. With a distinguished career that began under the mentorship of the Roux Brothers at the iconic Le Gavroche, Aikens brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the table. His culinary journey took him to New York, where he spent over 15 years working in some of the city’s most beloved kitchens, including the renowned Pastis. Aikens’ menu at Marceline will feature his signature style of confident brasserie cooking with playful twists. Guests can look forward to dishes such as Steak Tartare with hazelnuts, watercress, mint, and artichoke chips; Escargots de Bourgogne with garlic parsley butter and hazelnuts; Skate Kiev with pomme purée; and Ravioli du Dauphiné. For dessert, Aikens will delight guests with French classics including his Apple Tarte Fine, Mille-Feuille, Rose Water Madeleines, and Crème Caramel.

The extensive wine list at Marceline is curated by sommelier Jeffrey Koren. With an impressive background that includes roles at The Latymer and the three-starred Maaemo in Norway. Koren has crafted a wine selection that complements the menu's ethos of ‘classics with a twist.’ The list offers a wide range of wines by the glass, including typically Italian wines from neighbouring Slovenia, larger format bottles like an affordable white Burgundy, and a sensational British sparkling wine as the house fizz. Koren emphasises independent, family-run producers and champions British wines, creating an approachable yet exciting wine experience.

The restaurant's interior, crafted in collaboration with designers HURLÉ MARTÍN, features a blend of classic and contemporary elements. The main dining room boasts double ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a striking light feature, and brass mirrors that evoke the spirit of Parisian brasseries. Modern banquette seating, sculptural light fixtures, and soft leather accents add a contemporary touch. The al fresco terrace is perfect for warm days, offering a space to enjoy cocktails and the à la carte menu. Inside, the balcony area provides views over the main brasserie and can be transformed into a semi-private event space. Additionally, the versatile private dining room is ideal for both sit-down affairs and cocktail soirées, complete with a dedicated bar.
