Bring in the New Year with London's Best Run Clubs

By Lucy Connors

New year, new you? Or maybe just new trainers and a slightly better playlist? Either way, if you're looking to shake off last year’s cobwebs and get moving, we’ve got just the thing - Run Clubs.

Run Clubs are London’s latest obsession, and for good reason. They’re the perfect excuse to break a sweat, make some new mates, and discover hidden corners of the city - all without having to awkwardly loiter by the dumbbells at the gym. Think less solitary slog, more social sprint.

With new clubs popping up faster than you can say “Strava segment,” there’s something for everyone.

We get it, though - turning up solo or trying something new can feel a bit daunting. That’s why we’ve scouted out London’s Best Run Clubs to help you hit the ground running and stride confidently into the year ahead.

London's Best Run Clubs: Top Groups to Join Today

Puresport Running Club

It would be remiss not to kick off this list with Puresport, London’s undisputed running Mecca. Even if you haven’t heard the name, you’ve almost certainly spotted their iconic neon pink socks bouncing through the city.

Their Saturday morning Clubhouse runs draw a crowd but split into manageable pace groups before reuniting for a well-earned caffeine fix at Origin Coffee.

If you’re an early riser, their 7 AM Thursday run in Clapham is a gem - early but worth it, rounded off with chats over coffee at Sendero Specialty Coffee.

For those looking to up the ante, their Stay on Track series offers track sessions led by Olympic athletes - high-intensity, fast-paced, and a whole lot of fun.

Gymshark Run Club

GSRC keeps things simple yet exciting with their 5km run every Tuesday from the Regent Street store, which also doubles as a fitness hub offering daily gym classes (seriously good - I’d highly recommend). Once a month, they mix things up with a 10km or longer route.

The 5km route ticks off London’s top sights - think The Mall, Buckingham Palace, and St James’s Park - with a recent claim to fame of being paused mid-run to let the King’s motorcade pass (he waved, no big deal).

The atmopshere here is infectious, thanks in no small part to the poor pacer who lugs a giant speaker on their back to keep the energy high. Expect new friends, good laughs, and good times.

Puma x The Running Channel

Puma x The Running Channel Run Club

Once a month, Puma teams up with The Running Channel to host a 5km city run starting from their Carnaby Street store. A standout feature? Seasonal clothing - think t-shirts in summer and cozy quarter-zips in winter - to run in and take home.

Runners also get to road-test Puma’s latest speed shoes, perfect for the speed drills, strides, and intervals sprinkled throughout the session.

The post-run scene often features panel discussions and Q&As with athletes and industry insiders, elevating this event beyond your standard 5km.

Scrambled Legs

Long-distance enthusiasts, meet your match. Scrambled Legs serves up 20-30km runs every Saturday, living up to their tagline - Friendships forged through miles shared.

Founded by ultra-runner Jonny Davies, this club is a lifeline for marathon trainees dreading solitary long runs.

With flexible join-in and drop-out options, you can tailor your distance to match your training plan. It’s an inspiring mix of grit, camaraderie, and shared goals - a perfect embodiment of the age-old adage: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights is unlike any other run club - it’s a party on legs. Billing itself as the UK’s healthiest night out, it combines high-energy vibes with bright lights, loud music, and a festival-like atmosphere.

With weekly events and summer festivals, FNL flips the script on social running. Bring your friends, lace up your trainers, and experience a whole new way to hit the town.

The community spirit here is palpable - a testament to the friends who started it and those who keep the energy alive week after week.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re chasing a PB, training for a marathon, or just looking for a fun way to meet people, London’s running scene has something for everyone.

These clubs aren’t just about the miles - they’re about the friendships, the stories, and the memories made along the way. So lace up, show up, and let the city’s streets become your playground.
