Uncovering the best kept secrets in the fragrance world

The festive season is nearly upon us. Parties, dinners, celebrations and family get-togethers will be coming thick and fast over the next few weeks, and there will be plenty of occasions to wear that dress bought a year ago, or that suit you may have spent too much money on. Christmas is without doubt a fashionable period, and the vast array of events allows people to wear their smartest and most stylish wardrobe items. However, clothing is only one part of the story when it comes to party prepping. Grooming and beauty is another major element of the process. With that, the element of scent is perhaps the most important, although we will leave that for debate in the public sphere! Whether it is a treat to yourself, an essential item on your shopping list, or you’re adding it to your list to Father Christmas, buying a new scent this festive period will be sure to turn heads. As such we have put together a list of unique brands that are producing high quality fragrances, that will be individual to you.

Arquiste

Coming from architect turned perfumer, Carlos Huber and famous noses Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Yann Vasnier, Arquiste has announced itself in the fragrance industry with a bang. Whilst winning various awards, Arquiste is still a relatively unknown brand which allows for its exclusivity and uniqueness, that one strives for in a fragrance. With both male and female scents, there is a good choice of floral, citrus and warm parfums that cater to all.

Heretic Parfums

Heretic Parfums is based on a novel approach to fragrance. All their parfums are unisex which cuts out the need for gendered scents. Founded by Douglas Little, Heretic Parfums are inspired by Little’s passion of scents used in aromatherapy, which has been translated into indulgent fragrances. Using natural botanicals, the parfums are distinctive and will be sure to attract attention.

D.S. & Durga

Similarly, to Arquiste, one of the co-founders was an architect, whilst the other co-founder a musician. Based in New York, the brand is certainly unconventional, and all their scents are unisex. The brand originally started when the duo began creating aftershaves made by hand and selling them to friends. This then turned to blending oils and extracts to produce perfumes. You can rest assured that D.S. & Durga will provide you with a parfum that is like no other.

Krigler

Whilst you may never have heard of Krigler, it is certainly a fragrance powerhouse. Throughout the twentieth century, the company provided parfums and scents to some of the most famous socialites and celebrities including Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Cary Grant and Ernest Hemingway. With an extremely rich history, the attention to detail in their products is second to none, and to own a fragrance from Krigler is direct a interaction with a cornerstone brand of the perfume industry.

Amouroud

A relative newcomer to the industry compared with others on this list, Amouroud was established in 2016. The company was borne out of The Perfumer’s Workshop, a well-known US based brand who have created various iconic fragrances. One of the key selling points of Amouroud is their long-lasting scents, as well as their strong aroma. The scents are made to be intense, so one or two sprays is plenty.
