As we say goodbye to the hot and sticky summer months and hello to the cool relief of fresher temperatures, what better excuse to update your wardrobe with timeless pieces that will withstand the elements? Transition into trends fresh from the runway with cosy coats, delicious denim, sweeping skirts, bright hues, sparkling sets, chunky boots and delicate ballerinas to make sure you’re in style this season.
Over-the-top outerwear
Nothing says autumn quite like the hunt for a new coat to wrap up warm and the theme this season is go big or go home. Statement-making looks covered the AW22 runways with powerful faux fur Gucci coats, snug Max Mara teddy jackets and edgy Prada leather trenches. Yet there’s no need to break the bank, there’s plenty of great buys on the high-street such as Mango’s leopard print faux fur number, & Other Stories’ belted blanket coat and COS’ leather trench.

Denim days
Always a wardrobe staple, bold denim is set to be big this season.Opt for criss-cross, cargo and wide-leg styles for maximum impact which can be dressed up or dressed down. Yet denim isn’t just for jeans, take inspiration from Diesel and shop maxi skirts, trench coats and tops to fully immerse yourself in the trend. For your fill of denim this Autumn, make sure to delve into Agolde and River Island for a selection of jeans, whilst Ganni is offering a range of avant garde denim skirts!

Maxi-mum effect
Go to great lengths this season with floor-sweeping maxi skirts reminiscent of 90s’ minimalism which can be worn with everything from chunky knitwear, trench coats, blazers and basic tees. The long, lean, sophisticated silhouettes were a highlight from the Scandi, Saint Laurent and Acne Studios shows. There is no shortage of maxi skirts this Autumn from across various different designers, although our pick would be from Styland, Anthropologie or H&M, thus offering a range of price points.

Paintbox palette
The weather may be dull but a colourful palette is set to paint the town and bring in some much-needed serotonin this season as seen from Valentino, AlexanderMcQueen and Bottega Veneta collections. Pack a punch with a head-to-toe look, pair with softer subtler shades to cool down the vibrancy or opt for a bright accessory for a taste of the rainbow. To begin searching for these bold and colourful statement pieces we would recommend Coast, Galvan or Kurt Geigar who all offer eye-catching pieces for you this fall.

Shine bright
Although the party season will soon be upon us, the AW22 catwalks proved that sparkle can star in a sophisticated, glamorous, evening wardrobe and not just be reserved for Christmas. Embellishments, rhinestones and sequins adorned the runways of 16Arlington, Eckhaus Latta and Dries Van Noten. Meanwhile, these great new season finds from Stad, Harmur and Ted Baker will have you shining from dusk till dawn.
