The Guides '5 Songs of the Week' returns! This week we look at the 5 songs you should be listening to and adding to your playlists ready for the start of summer.
This time of the year is always interesting for music as there a large amount of albums being lined up for release in time for the summer party months. So lets get right into it and have a look at the best 5 songs of this week.
1) Shake the Room (feat. Quavo)-Pop Smoke
Pop Smoke, before his untimely passing, was heading for super stardom. His unique voice accompanied experimental drill beats and was a pioneer in the drill scene. Shake the Room is a perfect demonstration of this, whilst being accompanied by the smooth lyrics of Migos’ Quavo. Shake the Room is definitely not one to miss.
2) Gidget (feat. Anderson .Paak & T.Nava)-Free Nationals
Funky, RnB beats is the name of the game for upcoming group Free Nationals. Gidget is the perfect accompaniment to long lazy days in the sun and is a must have for the summer playlist. With groovy features from Anderson .Paak and T.Nava, Gidget shows just how much potential Free Nationals have.
3) Let’s Get Married (feat. Offset & Era Istrefi)-Yellow Claw
Fresh from the Amsterdam music producers’ album, Never Dies, ‘Let’s Get Married’ is just a old school feel good dance song that sets the scene for long summer ahead. With the main vocals from Era Istrefi and a slick verse from Offset, Let’s Get Married is a classic song for a house party.
4) No Hope Generation-Mura Masa
No Hope Generation is from Mura Masa’s latest album ‘R.Y.C’ and is a dreamy psychedelic yet melodic song talking about the problems of today’s society. It is a song that lets you think, day dream and relax to and shows Mura Masa’s versatility, a trait that is so important in todays music scene.
5) My Vacant Days-Blossoms
Blossoms recently released their new album ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’ and My Vacant Days is a slow indie ballad that reminisces of being young again. Tom Ogden gives a personal account through his amazing singing and My Vacant Days is a remembrance of summers gone by.
